The Hamburg Ballet Days are the highlight and conclusion of the current season, bringing together the diverse spectrum of Hamburg Ballet in just two weeks.
The 50th edition of the festival will open on July 6, 2025, with John Neumeier's "The Little Mermaid." The Ballet Days offer an annual overview of the diverse program from the current season. This year's highlights include the two premiere productions "THE TIMES ARE RACING" and "SLOW BURN," which provide a fascinating insight into the wide range of choreographic styles presented since 1974. From the rich repertoire of works by John Neumeier, this year's program also features "Romeo and Juliet," "Nijinsky," and "Death in Venice" alongside "The Little Mermaid." The School of the Hamburg Ballet will also take part with a performance from the "First Steps" series, featuring among other pieces Hans van Manen´s "Unisono" and Demis Volpi's "The Carnival of the Animals," which the school had added to its repertoire in 2012.
The Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau and his internationally acclaimed company La Veronal will present two guest performances of "Sonoma", a work of archaic power and surreal dystopian beauty. Inspired by the works of filmmaker Luis Buñuel, Morau creates intricate, dizzying images in his unique, uncompromising movement language.
The star principal of the Stuttgart Ballet, Friedemann Vogel, presents his solo dance performance "Soul Threads". Based on the idea that a dancer is connected by invisible threads to his emotions, memories, and inner struggles, Friedemann Vogel delivers a finely nuanced movement language. Every step, every gesture appears to be in constant dialogue between body and soul.
The Nijinsky Gala L will conclude the 50th Ballet Days and the 2024/25 season on July 20.
