In this season too the Hamburg State Opera is inviting you to the ‚AfterWork‘. On specific Thursdays and Fridays, from 18.00 to 19.00 in the opera stabile you can celebrate with us the beginning of the weekend with different styles of music and theater from artists and guests.
"I see Schumann a lot, she comes to me almost daily, and I have grown quite fond of her," wrote Fanny Hensel, née Mendelssohn Bartholdy, in March 1847 about Clara Schumann, who a few months later, after Fanny's sudden death, says, "She was probably the most outstanding musician of her time – only good could be heard from her." What could the two have talked about? What is it like to stand as composers in the shadow of the men who are so much more recognized as such, Fanny's brother Felix and Clara's husband Robert? This AfterWork allows songs from all four artists, both women and men, to be appreciated in a shared evening!
