THE ART OF Sonya Yoncheva

Sonya Yoncheva will be back at the Hamburg State Opera in a gala concert with the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Leonardo Sini. The soprano is considered one of the leading singers of her generation. With a broad repertoire ranging from baroque operas to Mozart, Verdi and Puccini, she regularly gives guest performances at the world's most renowned opera houses and is equally in demand as a concert singer. Sonya Yoncheva was born in Bulgaria and studied piano and voice with Nelly Koitcheva in her hometown of Plovdiv and in Geneva. In 2010 she won the Plácido Domingos Operalia Competition, where she was also awarded the CulturArte Prize. In 2015, she received the ECHO Klassik award for Young Artist of the Year.

Under the title THE ART OF, the solo evenings focus on experiencing the vocal artistry of exceptional international opera stars in its purest form and in the full breadth of their repertoire. With THE ART OF, the Hamburg State Opera is continuing a long tradition: Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras, Grace Bumbry, Montserrat Caballé and many others have already conquered the Hanseatic audience in solo concerts.
