Expect nothing and drum

In this season too the Hamburg State Opera is inviting you to the ‚AfterWork‘. On specific Thursdays and Fridays, from 18.00 to 19.00 in the opera stabile you can celebrate with us the beginning of the weekend with different styles of music and theater from artists and guests.

The title of this AfterWorks is emblazoned on the locker of Philharmoniker principal timpanist Brian Barker - a small reminiscence of Brahms, who announced his second symphony with these words, but above all a motto: to go through life with an open mind and a passion for percussion. An evening of percussive curiosity with solo timpanist Brian Barker and his colleagues from the Philharmonic State Orchestra. Together they will make the opera stabile vibrate with works by two Hamburg composers: Fabian Otten, principal percussionist with the Philharmoniker, and Fredrik Schwenk, Professor of Composition at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama.
