In this season too the Hamburg State Opera is inviting you to the ‚AfterWork‘. On specific Thursdays and Fridays, from 18.00 to 19.00 in the opera stabile you can celebrate with us the beginning of the weekend with different styles of music and theater from artists and guests.

The radiantly warm sound of mezzo-soprano Jana Kurucova can be heard regularly at the State Opera since 2019. As a member of the ensemble, the singer has appeared on stage in roles such as Hänsel, Dorabella and Orlofsky. Together with her lieder accompanist Stephan Matthias Lademann - a jewel of the scene who has already made music with Diana Damrau, Edita Gruberová, Peter Schreier and Siegfried Jerusalem - she will give her first lieder recital at Dammtorstraße in December. Her program stands on the threshold from Romanticism to Modernism with Czech songs by Antonín Dvořák, Arnold Schoenberg's Four Songs op. 2, and Five Songs from the total of only 16 surviving by composer Alma Mahler. A dreamlike evening!
