Star hour

In this season too the Hamburg State Opera is inviting you to the ‚AfterWork‘. On specific Thursdays and Fridays, from 18.00 to 19.00 in the opera stabile you can celebrate with us the beginning of the weekend with different styles of music and theater from artists and guests.

As achild he lay under the grand piano while his parents made music, later he stood on stage at the Thalia as a theater musician, began to express his affinity for images in his own sounds and has been part of the Philharmonic State Orchestra for 30 years now: Stefan Schäfer. This year, the solo double bassist and composer, whose works have been performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Vienna Konzerthaus or the Berlin Philharmonie, among others, celebrates his 60th birthday. We would also like to celebrate this occasion with a starry hour that takes us to the stars in the night sky with art songs from Schäfer's pen - from "Traces of the Moon" and "Star Songs" to the world premiere of "Cinque Volte Dio" after poems by Francesco Micieli for soprano and harp.
